| Abstract | This study assesses the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of households regarding waste segregation and its contribution to solid waste management in Camaligan, Camarines Sur, within the framework of Republic Act No. 9003. Using a descriptive research design, data were collected through household surveys, key informant interviews, and field observations. Results indicate that while households exhibit high knowledge and positive attitudes toward waste segregation, actual practices remain moderate due to structural and operational barriers such as limited access to segregation facilities, inconsistent waste collection, weak enforcement, and space constraints. Despite these challenges, proper waste segregation was found to enhance solid waste management by improving material recovery, reducing residual waste, and increasing collection efficiency. The study highlights the need for stronger barangay-level enforcement, improved logistical support, and sustained information and education campaigns to bridge the gap between awareness and practice and promote sustainable waste management. |
