| Abstract | Asylum denotes the States’s power of protecting a person from persecution of another State from where he actually belongs. In this article the author analyses the meaning, historical evolution, legal foundations, and it’s relevance in the contemporary era. It further evaluates the principle of non-refoulement and the growing influence of international human rights law giving the rationale for the same. It also explores the various forms of asylum and concludes with the India’s stance on this for, of humanitarian obligation. |
