| Abstract | This research paper examines the Punjab state elections from 2002 to 2017. Its primary objective is to review the performance of various political parties during this period, and to understand and analyse the alternative politics they presented across different election cycles. Accordingly, the work and performance of political parties between 2002 and 2017 form the foundation of this study. The paper presents a political history of Punjab, focusing on the alternatives put forward by both ruling parties and opposition parties that won elections. Between 2002 and 2017, different parties articulated distinct ideas that set them apart—and it is within these differences that we find glimpses of alternative politics. |
