Hand Sketching is an Irreplaceable Tool in Architectural Design Thinking and Practice

Abstract	Hand sketching has long been an integral part of architectural practice, serving as a direct medium for transforming thoughts into visual form. Despite the rapid advancement of digital tools, hand sketching continues to play an irreplaceable role in architectural design thinking. This paper tells the significance of hand sketching as a cognitive and creative tool in architectural design practice. Through a review of architectural theories,design methodologies, and professional practices, the study highlights how hand sketching supports conceptual development, problem-solving, and effective comunication. The hand sketching is not only a representational technique but a fundamental process of visual thinking which shapes architectural ideas. The study shows that hand sketching is still very important in architecture education and professional work.It helps architects develop original ideas and maintain honesty and quality in their conceptual designs.
