| Abstract | Government of India launched a cleanliness drive in the year of 2014 with the objective to make our country clean on the 175th birth anniversary of the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi. After government decision to attach this programme as social and economic movement, all the government institutions and organizations started awareness campaign and cleanliness drive. A clean environment is crucial for health. Maintaining cleanliness in educational institutions is essential for fostering a conducive learning environment, which directly influences students' academic achievement. Furthermore, a tidy and orderly environment mitigates health hazards, thereby reducing absenteeism and promoting sustained educational involvement. By prioritizing effective cleanliness in campus, significantly reduce dropout rates and enhance students' interest and performance in both academic and extracurricular activities can be achieved. The purpose of present study is to examine and compare the awareness and effectiveness of Clean Campus initiative between two universities students i.e. the University of Jammu and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. The major findings reveal that both universities have effectively implemented the Clean Campus Initiative and achieved positive outcomes in cleanliness, hygiene and sustainable sanitation. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University was more active in organizing cleanliness drives, while the University of Jammu demonstrated stronger emphasis on eco-friendly practices and improved hostel management. |
