| Abstract | Zinc sulfide (ZnS) is an important II–VI semiconductor phosphor that has been extensively investigated for electroluminescent (EL) displays because of its wide band gap, chemical stability, and ability to accommodate different luminescent activator ions. Incorporation of rare-earth ions such as Tb³⁺, Sm³⁺, Eu³⁺, Ce³⁺ and Tm³⁺ into ZnS provides characteristic emission bands and enables the development of multicolor electroluminescent devices. |
| Keywords | Zinc sulfide, ZnS phosphor, rare-earth ions, electroluminescence, brightness, luminance, Tb³⁺, Eu³⁺, Sm³⁺, thin-film electroluminescence. |
