| Abstract | The increasing need of the climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental degradation has compelled financial systems to navigate towards more sustainable financial systems more and more. In this context, sustainable finance is the new paradigm in how to allocate money to sustainable projects. This paper reflects on the potential of green FinTech for sustainable financial products such as green bonds, green credit, ESG investment platforms, etc. and carbon markets. Based on the analysis of recent studies, the paper concluded that green FinTech optimizes transparency and cost of transactions, boosts environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance, and contributes to climate action. Some of the problems remain, including regulatory fragmentation, risks of greenwashing, and problems with data governance. The paper ends by saying that although Green FinTech seems to be a game-changer in this field of sustainable finance, a strong regulatory framework, technological infrastructure and co-operation of stakeholders are essential to make it a success. |
