Author(s) Prof. Dr. Sahibe Meral Cakici
Country Turkey
Abstract This study aims to provide an extensive overview of the economic growth policies carried out in emerging countries. Growth policies in emerging countries focus on creating sustainable economic growth, diversifying revenue bases and improving standard of living while reducing vulnerability to global shocks. The design and the execution of growth policies vary significantly across countries with different characteristics. There are several important factors determining the optimal growth policy for a certain country including size, economic power, financial openness, trade networks as well as country-specific features such as cultural and traditional aspects. Examining the growth policies in emerging countries and evaluating the impact as well as the consequences of those policies offer a comprehensive understanding of how growth strategies should be built in order to maximize the benefits.
